Dino Days Birthday Card

If anyone appreciates my handmade birthday cards, it's my mini-me daughter and stamping partner in crime, Sophie! All she wanted for both Christmas AND her birthday was to tour the Stampin' Up! home office in Riverton, Utah! (Luckily, we were traveling to Utah both in December and June!)

I felt pressured to create the perfect card for her birthday, especially when she asked me weeks in advance "Mom have you made my birthday card yet?"

Of course I knew I was going to use the Dinoroar Suite, I just hadn't designed or created it yet. Finally, after about the 10th request, I sat down and created something that was made for her!

Because we had planned on mixing dinos and tropical together for her birthday party, I decided to do the same on her card.

I made my own tropical DSP by using the Tropical Chic stamp set with three different colors: Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, and Blushing Bride. Then I used Versamark to stamp and emboss gold accent leaves.

The T-Rex (her favorite dinosaur) from the Dino Days stamp set was stamped in Melon Mambo with his spikes in Granny Apple Green, then cut out with the coordinating Dino dies and layered on the two different punches. The sentiment was punched with the Timeless Label Punch and the Blushing Bride cardstock was punched with the Starburst Punch.

I added Champagne Foil on the lower portion of the card and a Granny Apple Green ribbon between the two different sections.

You may be wondering why I didn't use gold foil on her card to match the gold embossing. Well, I realized too late that I was out of gold foil sheets, but I liked the soft pink look of the champagne foil sheets even better! They are a beautiful rose gold and were perfect for her card! Needless to say, she thought it was PERFECT. I think the entire Dinoroar Suite is perfect for her! SHE thinks it was made for her and I would have to agree!
