Cardmaking Tip

In case you haven't noticed, the product of the week was the fun Dinoroar Suite!
So here is one last card for you with a quick and easy tip!

When I was creating this card, I was focused on the focal point. The dinosaurs were die cut from the DSP (scrapbook paper) for a quick and easy main feature. The sentiment and accents were an afterthought.

My first card looked like this:

It's still a fun card that will brighten somebody's mailbox (and day), but by adding an extra layer in Pineapple Punch, and layering up that sentiment with the Starburst Punch and a Circle Punch, it...
packs more of a punch. (LOL I had to!)

Tip of the day: When your card still looks like it's missing something, add a layer!

Dinoroar Designer Series Paper

For a quick and easy card, Designer Series Paper packs a big punch!

Start with a card layout and use that DSP for a lot of interest in a single layer.

We all do it. We hoard our beautiful Designer Series Paper!
We need to stop this madness! Maybe you need to start small, and use a few smaller pieces?

Pigment Sprinkles dinosaur - just sprinkle pigment on your stamp, spritz it and voilĂ !

Just start cutting into that DSP and before you know it, your beautiful paper stash will become beautiful cards and projects! (And those are much more useful than a stack of unused paper!)

Come share your creations with us on Facebook!

This fun Pop-Up card features the Dinoroar Suite which can be bought in a variety of ways!

You can also purchase each item separately:

Here are the measurements for the pop-up card.

Granny Apple Green card base - 4 1/4" x 11"
Thick Whisper White layer - 4" x 5 1/4"  (you can just use half a sheet and then cut it down to size and die cut the egg shapes from the extra)
Pineapple Punch layer - 3 1/4" x 4 1/4"
Dinoroar Designer Series Paper layer - 3x4

Melon Mambo - 4" x 10 3/4", scored at 2 5/8", 5 3/8", 8"
Melon Mambo - 4" x 5 1/4" scored at 1 1/4" from each side
Die cut 2 egg shapes from the watercolored thick Whisper White cardstock
Dinoroar Designer Series Paper layer - die cut "happy birthday" from the Well Written dies

Here are the rest of the products used:
In the video, I die cut 2 egg shapes from the Dino Dies from the Melon Mambo cardstock, but it is easier if you just die cut one side and adhere the pigment sprinkles egg on the Melon Mambo cardstock (or you could use Scotch tape like I do in the video).

Dino Days Birthday Card

If anyone appreciates my handmade birthday cards, it's my mini-me daughter and stamping partner in crime, Sophie! All she wanted for both Christmas AND her birthday was to tour the Stampin' Up! home office in Riverton, Utah! (Luckily, we were traveling to Utah both in December and June!)

Birthday Tour
I felt pressured to create the perfect card for her birthday, especially when she asked me weeks in advance "Mom have you made my birthday card yet?"

Of course I knew I was going to use the Dinoroar Suite, I just hadn't designed or created it yet. Finally, after about the 10th request, I sat down and created something that was made for her!

Because we had planned on mixing dinos and tropical together for her birthday party, I decided to do the same on her card.

I made my own tropical DSP by using the Tropical Chic stamp set with three different colors: Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, and Blushing Bride. Then I used Versamark to stamp and emboss gold accent leaves.

The T-Rex (her favorite dinosaur) from the Dino Days stamp set was stamped in Melon Mambo with his spikes in Granny Apple Green, then cut out with the coordinating Dino dies and layered on the two different punches. The sentiment was punched with the Timeless Label Punch and the Blushing Bride cardstock was punched with the Starburst Punch.

I added Champagne Foil on the lower portion of the card and a Granny Apple Green ribbon between the two different sections.

You can purchase any of these products by clicking on the image below, and don't forget to use hostess code KHM4JECD when you checkout for a special gift from me!

You may be wondering why I didn't use gold foil on her card to match the gold embossing. Well, I realized too late that I was out of gold foil sheets, but I liked the soft pink look of the champagne foil sheets even better! They are a beautiful rose gold and were perfect for her card! Needless to say, she thought it was PERFECT. I think the entire Dinoroar Suite is perfect for her! SHE thinks it was made for her and I would have to agree!
